What to Expect on the Laurel Falls Hike
The Laurel Falls Trail is one of the few paved hiking trails in the Smoky Mountains, making it a top choice for families and casual hikers. Originally built in the 1930s as a fire access road, the trail was later paved due to heavy use and erosion.
As you hike, you will pass through lush forest filled with native plants, including the trail's namesake, mountain laurel (Kalmia latifolia), which blooms beautifully in May.
At the end of the trail, you will reach the stunning waterfall, split into upper and lower tiers. A footbridge crossing Laurel Branch runs between the two sections, offering multiple vantage points and incredible photo opportunities.
Best Time to Visit Laurel Falls
